Jaclyn was being treated for slight rejection in Jan and Feb out-patient. Rejection stinks, even if it is minor. We love being OUT-PATIENT. Unfortunately, on Feb 24th, Jaclyn came down with a bug. For most people, we get the flu or a virus and we get kleenex and chicken soup and cuddle up in bed for a couple of days and are ready to face the world again. However, Jaclyn's immune system is seriously compromised. It is trying to recreate itself to keep her new kidney and keep the nasty EBV and PTLD away.

Jaclyn was admitted to the hospital after a day of vomitting. Once she was hooked to IV hydration and given Zofran, the vomitting stopped.  Relief. However, the following day brought another challenge. Jaclyn started getting stabbing sharp pains in her head. This appeared to be more than just aches and pains from the flu. I have never experienced a migraine so I contacted her dad who has had debilitating migraines in the past and he confirmed that she was experiencing a migraine. Poor kid...what else could she possibly inherit from us. UGH! After she was rushed for a CT scan of her head to eliminate the possibility of her brain bleeding, Dr. G ordered a non-narcotic Benadryl/Compazine cocktail that resolved her debilitating migraine. :~)

Thanks to my wonderful husband who flew in at a moments notice to help care for Jaclyn, just prior to me becoming infected with Jaclyn's flu and vomitting for 2 days.

Jaclyn was released on March 6th and spent some time with friends the following week while attempting to continue with school. A bit too much too soon.

Jaclyn's lab results are still all over the board. Please pray for better labs, clear scan and perfect biopsies in the future. She is so close, but getting to the finish line has been challenging. I hear stories all the time about transplant patients and how they lead normal lives.  I'm hoping we're coming into that time. I am praying that Jaclyn's trials are over and that he can have some smooth sailing for awhile. Good Bye pesky EBV, Good bye scary PTLD, Bye Rejection. Hello to the GOOD LIFE!

Thank you again to all of our heaven and earth angels. We never would have made it without all of your prayers and positive thoughts.

Peace, much love, good health and happiness to you and your families,

Susan, mom of Jaclyn
